How do I change the engine oil in my Vauxhall Astra?

I recently purchased a used Vauxhall Astra and I want to make sure I maintain it properly. Can someone explain the steps to changing the engine oil and what type of oil to use?

First, make sure you have the correct type of oil for your Astra's engine. Consult the owner's manual or do some research online to find the recommended oil. Usually, a fully synthetic oil is best for modern engines. Then, locate the oil filter and drain plug under the car. Place a drain pan under the plug to catch the old oil. Unscrew the plug and let the old oil drain out completely. Next, remove the old oil filter and replace it with a new one. Finally, refill the engine with the new oil, using the recommended amount, and double check that the oil level is at the correct level on the dipstick. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, it's always a good idea to take it to a professional mechanic.
