How do I check my engine oil levels on my Vauxhall Astra?

I recently purchased a used Vauxhall Astra and I'm not sure how to properly check the engine oil levels. Can someone walk me through the process?

To check your engine oil levels, you'll need to first locate the dipstick under the hood. It should have a brightly colored handle for easy identification. Once located, pull it out and wipe it clean with a cloth. Then, reinsert it completely and pull it back out. The dipstick will have markings showing the oil level. If the oil is between the minimum and maximum marks, your levels are good. If it's below the minimum mark, you'll need to add more oil.

Another way to check your oil levels is through the car's onboard computer. Simply navigate to the 'oil levels' section and it should display the current levels. However, keep in mind that this method may not always be accurate and it's always best to physically check the levels with the dipstick.

It's important to regularly check your engine oil levels to ensure proper lubrication of the engine. Low oil levels can lead to engine damage and costly repairs. If you're unsure about checking your oil levels, it's always best to consult your car's manual or take it to a certified mechanic for assistance.
