How do I fix a Check Engine Light on my Vauxhall Astra?

I have a 2015 Vauxhall Astra and recently the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I want to try fixing it myself before taking it to a mechanic. Any tips or advice? Thanks!
