How often should I replace the timing belt on my Vauxhall Astra?

I have a Vauxhall Astra and I am wondering when the timing belt needs to be replaced. I have heard conflicting recommendations and I am not sure who to trust. Can anyone give me some advice on when I should replace the timing belt on my car?
