How to change the brake pads on a Vauxhall Astra?

I've noticed my brakes are starting to make a squeaking noise. I believe it may be time to change the brake pads on my Vauxhall Astra. How can I do this on my own without going to a mechanic?

First, gather all the necessary tools such as a jack, lug wrench, socket set, and brake pads. Then, locate the brake caliper and remove the wheel. Next, use a C-clamp to push the caliper piston back into the caliper housing. After that, remove the old brake pads and replace them with the new ones. Finally, reattach the wheel, lower the car, and test the brakes to ensure proper functioning.

It is important to regularly check your brake pads and replace them if they are wearing thin. You can also look for any signs of uneven wear or damage while changing the pads. If you are not confident in changing the brake pads on your own, it is always best to consult a professional mechanic.

When changing the brake pads yourself, make sure to also check the brake rotors for any signs of wear or damage. If the rotors are damaged, they should be replaced as well for optimal braking performance. This will also prevent the new brake pads from wearing out quickly.
