How to check and replace a dead car battery in a Vauxhall Astra?

My Vauxhall Astra has been having trouble starting up and I suspect it may be due to a dead car battery. How can I check and replace the battery myself?

First, you should use a multimeter to check the voltage of your car battery. If it reads below 12.4 volts, it is likely a dead battery and needs to be replaced.

S

If you don't have a multimeter, you can try jump starting your car with another vehicle. If it starts, it confirms that the battery is the issue and needs to be replaced.

M

To replace the battery, start by removing the negative (-) terminal first, followed by the positive (+) terminal. Then, loosen and remove the battery hold-down clamp and carefully lift out the old battery.

K

Make sure to properly dispose of the old battery and install the new one in the reverse order. It's important to securely tighten the terminals and make sure they are clean to ensure a good connection.
