First, jack up your Vauxhall Astra and remove the wheels to access the brake pads. Look for any signs of wear or damage on the brake pads. If they are less than 3mm thick or have significant wear, it's time to replace them.

To replace the brake pads, you'll need a brake pad replacement kit, which can be purchased at any auto parts store. Follow the instructions in the kit to properly install the new brake pads.

Don't forget to also check the brake rotors for any signs of wear or damage. If they are warped or uneven, they will need to be replaced as well for optimal braking performance.

After replacing the brake pads and rotors, make sure to properly break in the new components by gently applying the brakes a few times at low speeds. This will help ensure they are properly bedded in for optimal performance.
