I just purchased a Vauxhall Astra and I'm not sure how to check the oil level. Can anyone walk me through the process?
ReplyFirst, make sure the car is parked on a flat surface and the engine is turned off. Locate the dipstick, usually near the engine oil cap. Pull it out and wipe it clean with a rag. Then, insert it back into the tube and pull it out to check the oil level. The markings on the dipstick will indicate if the oil level is within the recommended range. If the level is low, add the appropriate type and amount of oil.
Another method to check the oil level is through the car's onboard computer. On the dashboard, there should be a button or lever labeled 'Oil' or with an oil can icon. Push or pull it to get a reading on the oil level. Keep in mind that this method may be less accurate than using a dipstick.
