How to fix a broken starter in a Vauxhall Astra?

I have a 2005 Vauxhall Astra and the starter seems to be broken. When I turn the key in the ignition, there is just a clicking sound and the engine does not start. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

It sounds like your starter motor may be faulty. This could be due to a number of reasons, such as worn out brushes or a damaged solenoid. I would recommend taking it to a mechanic to get it diagnosed and repaired.

Before taking it to a mechanic, you can try tapping the starter motor with a hammer to see if that helps loosen any stuck components. If that doesn't work, it's best to get it checked by a professional.

It's always a good idea to check the battery and connections first, as a weak or dead battery can also cause starting issues. Make sure the terminals are clean and tight before assuming it's a problem with the starter.
