What could be causing my Vauxhall Vivaro's engine to overheat?

I recently bought a used Vauxhall Vivaro and I've noticed that the engine temperature gauge has been climbing quite high, almost to the red zone. What could be the cause of this and how can I prevent it from happening?

One common cause of engine overheating in Vauxhall Vivaros is a faulty thermostat. This can cause the engine to run hotter than normal and potentially lead to boiling over. I suggest taking your vehicle to a trusted mechanic and having them check the thermostat.

Another potential cause could be a leakage in the cooling system. Check for any visible leaks near the radiator or hoses. If you spot a leak, get it fixed immediately as not fixing it could lead to serious damage to the engine.

It could also be a problem with the water pump. If the pump is not functioning properly, it may not be circulating enough coolant through the system. Have a mechanic inspect and replace the water pump if necessary.
