What is the most reliable engine type for a Vauxhall Astra?

I am planning to buy a Vauxhall Astra and I am wondering which engine type is the most reliable in terms of long-term usage and maintenance costs. Can someone share their personal experience or knowledge on this matter?

In my experience, the 1.4-litre petrol engine has been the most reliable for my Vauxhall Astra. It is easy to maintain and has lower costs compared to other engine types.

I have a 2018 Vauxhall Astra with the 1.6-litre diesel engine and I have never had any issues with it. It has great fuel efficiency and has been very reliable for long journeys.

I would highly recommend going for the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It may seem small but it has a good amount of power and has been very reliable for my daily commute.
