What should I do if my Vauxhall Grandland's engine starts to overheat?

I've noticed that the temperature gauge on my Vauxhall Grandland has been creeping up to the red recently. What could be causing this and what should I do to prevent any damage to my engine?

First, check your coolant levels and make sure they are topped up to the recommended amount. If that doesn't solve the issue, it could be a problem with your radiator or water pump. I recommend taking your car to a certified mechanic for a thorough inspection.

Another common cause of engine overheating is a faulty thermostat. This can prevent your cooling system from regulating the temperature properly. If you have the skills and tools, you can try replacing the thermostat yourself, or again, take it to a mechanic for assistance.

It's worth also checking if your engine oil needs to be topped up or changed, as low or dirty oil can also contribute to overheating. Make sure to use the recommended oil for your Vauxhall Grandland.
