Why does my Vauxhall Astra's brakes squeak?

I've noticed that my Vauxhall Astra's brakes have been squeaking whenever I press down on them. Is this a cause for concern and what could be causing this issue?

Squeaky brakes are often caused by wearing down of the brake pads or a buildup of debris. It's important to get them checked by a mechanic to ensure they are still functioning properly.

D

Another potential cause could be rust on the brake rotors. This can happen if the car has been sitting for a long time or if you frequently drive in wet conditions. A mechanic can clean off the rust to eliminate the squeaking.

It's also possible that the noise is simply a result of the brake pads being dirty. Try cleaning them off with some brake cleaner to see if the noise goes away.

R

If the noise persists, it's best to have a mechanic take a look. Squeaky brakes could also indicate a more serious issue, such as worn or damaged brake components.
