Why does my Vauxhall Astra steering wheel shake at high speeds?

I recently noticed that my Vauxhall Astra's steering wheel shakes when I drive at higher speeds. It feels like the entire car is vibrating. I've checked the tire pressure and there doesn't seem to be any issue there. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Dave, the shaking could be caused by several things. It could be an issue with your suspension, such as worn out shocks or struts. It could also be a problem with your wheel balance. Have you had your wheels balanced recently? If not, I recommend taking your car to a mechanic to have them checked and balanced. This should help reduce the shaking and make your drive smoother.

Dave, another possible cause could be a bent or worn out wheel. Have you hit any curbs or potholes recently? If so, it's possible that your wheel has been damaged. I suggest having a mechanic inspect your wheels for any bends or damage. If necessary, they can be repaired or replaced.

Hey Dave, one more thing to check is your alignment. If your wheels are not properly aligned, it can cause shaking and vibration at higher speeds. If it's been a while since you had an alignment, it's a good idea to have one done. This will not only improve your ride quality, but also prolong the life of your tires.
