Why does my Vauxhall Corsa make a squeaking noise when turning?

I have a 2010 Vauxhall Corsa and recently it has started making a high-pitched squeaking noise when I turn the steering wheel. It seems to only happen when the car has been sitting for a while and is cold. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

It sounds like the power steering system may be low on fluid. This can cause the belt to slip and create a squeaking noise. Check the fluid level and if it's low, top it off with the recommended type of fluid for your vehicle.

Another possibility could be a worn or loose belt. As the belt starts to wear out, it may start to slip and create a squeaking noise. Have a mechanic check the condition and tension of the belt to see if it needs to be replaced.

It could also be an issue with the steering column or components. If the noise is coming from inside the car, it may be a loose or worn component within the steering column. A mechanic will need to inspect and repair any issues found.

In some cases, the noise can be caused by dirty or dry ball joints. These joints allow the steering to move smoothly and when they are dirty or dry, they can create a squeaking noise. Have a mechanic clean and lubricate the joints to see if that solves the issue.
