Why does my Vauxhall Corsa's engine make a tapping noise?

I recently noticed a tapping noise coming from the engine of my Vauxhall Corsa. It seems to get louder when the car is idling. What could be causing this and is it something I should be worried about?

Hi Maria, thanks for reaching out. The tapping noise you are hearing could potentially be caused by low oil levels or a faulty valve lifter. It's important to get this checked out by a mechanic as soon as possible, as it could lead to further damage if left untreated.

Hey Maria, it's possible that the tapping noise is coming from a loose valve lash adjuster. This can usually be fixed by tightening the adjuster or replacing it if necessary. I would recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic for an inspection.

Hi Maria, another possible cause for the tapping noise could be a worn out timing chain tensioner. This can lead to more serious engine issues if not addressed. I suggest taking your car to a Vauxhall dealership for a proper diagnosis and repair.
