Why does my Vauxhall Insignia's engine make a loud knocking noise?

I've noticed that my Vauxhall Insignia's engine has started making a loud knocking noise when I accelerate. It doesn't seem to affect the performance of the car, but it's definitely a cause for concern. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It's possible that your engine is experiencing detonation or pre-ignition, which can be caused by a faulty knock sensor or incorrect fuel octane level. I would recommend bringing your car to a trusted mechanic to diagnose the issue and make any necessary repairs.

I had a similar issue with my Vauxhall Insignia and it turned out to be a problem with the spark plugs. They were worn out and not firing correctly, causing the knocking noise. I would suggest replacing your spark plugs and see if that solves the issue.

It's always a good idea to check your oil level and quality when you hear unusual engine noises. Low oil can cause knocking noises, and dirty oil can lead to engine damage. Make sure to follow your car's recommended oil change schedule and use the appropriate type of oil.
