Why is my Vauxhall Astra making grinding noises when I brake?

I've noticed that whenever I apply the brakes on my Vauxhall Astra, there is a grinding noise coming from the front of the car. It's quite loud and noticeable. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Jenna, it sounds like you may have worn brake pads. It's important to get those replaced as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your car. I would recommend taking it to a mechanic for a proper inspection and replacement.

Hi Jenna, another possible cause for the grinding noise could be a build-up of debris or rust on your brake rotors. I would suggest getting your brakes cleaned and resurfaced to see if that resolves the issue.

Hi Jenna, it's also possible that your brake calipers are sticking, causing the grinding noise. This can happen due to a lack of lubrication or corrosion on the calipers. I would advise getting them checked and possibly replaced by a professional.
