The check engine light could be on for a variety of reasons, such as a loose gas cap, faulty oxygen sensor, or a problem with the catalytic converter. It's important to bring your car to a mechanic to properly diagnose the issue.

I had the same issue with my Astra and it turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor. The mechanic was able to replace it and the check engine light hasn't come back on since.

I recommend bringing your Astra to a certified Vauxhall dealership for repairs. They will have the proper training and equipment to accurately diagnose and fix any issues with your car.
