Why is my Vauxhall Corsa making a loud knocking noise while driving?

I recently purchased a used Vauxhall Corsa and have noticed a loud knocking noise coming from the front of the car while driving. It seems to get louder when going over bumps or rough roads. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Samantha, the most likely cause of the knocking noise is worn out suspension components such as control arm bushings or ball joints. These parts can wear out over time due to normal use and can cause the car to make noises over bumps. I recommend bringing your car to a trusted mechanic to have it inspected and any necessary repairs made.

Hey Samantha, another possible reason for the knocking noise could be a loose exhaust system. Check to make sure all of the exhaust components are securely attached and not hitting against the body of the car. If you notice any loose connections, tighten them or have a mechanic do it for you.

Hi Samantha, it's possible that the noise could be coming from a loose or damaged engine mount. This can happen if the car has been driven roughly or over rough roads. Have a mechanic check the engine mounts for any signs of damage or looseness and replace as needed.
