Why is my Vauxhall Grandland's engine making a loud clicking noise?

I've noticed that my Vauxhall Grandland's engine is making a loud clicking noise whenever I accelerate or decelerate. It's been happening for a few weeks now and I'm not sure what could be causing it. Any advice on what could be causing this issue and how to fix it?

Hi Samantha, the loud clicking noise could be due to a faulty valve lifter or a low oil level. I would suggest checking the oil level and if it's low, topping it up with the recommended oil. If the noise persists, it's best to take your car to a certified mechanic for a thorough inspection.

Hey Samantha, I had a similar issue with my Grandland and it turned out to be a worn out serpentine belt. I would recommend checking the belt for any tears or cracks and replacing it if necessary. It's an easy and inexpensive fix that could potentially solve the noise problem.

Hi Samantha, the loud clicking noise could also be caused by a loose heat shield, which is a safety component that protects the exhaust system. Have a mechanic check if the heat shield is securely in place and tighten any loose bolts if needed.
