Why is my Vauxhall Grandland's engine making a ticking noise?

I recently noticed that my Vauxhall Grandland's engine started making a ticking noise. It only occurs when the engine is running and gets louder when I accelerate. What could be causing this and is it something I should be concerned about?

The ticking noise could be due to low engine oil levels. Make sure to check your oil levels and top up if necessary.

It could also be caused by a faulty or worn out timing belt. It's important to get this checked and replaced if needed as a broken timing belt can cause severe damage to the engine.

Another possible cause could be a problem with the valve train or lifters. This may require a professional inspection and repair.
