Why is my Vauxhall Insignia's check engine light constantly on?

I have a Vauxhall Insignia and recently noticed that the check engine light is constantly on. I checked the oil level and it seems to be fine. What could be the cause of this issue?

Hi Jessica, a constantly lit check engine light can indicate a number of potential issues. It could be a problem with the emissions system, a faulty oxygen sensor, or even a loose gas cap. I would recommend bringing your car to a trusted mechanic for a diagnostic test to pinpoint the exact cause.

Hi Jessica, I had a similar issue with my Vauxhall Insignia and it turned out to be a faulty ignition coil. I would suggest checking that as well. If that's the case, it's an easy fix and should solve the problem.

Hi Jessica, another common cause of a constantly lit check engine light is a malfunctioning catalytic converter. This is a more serious issue and will need to be addressed by a professional. Make sure to get it checked out as soon as possible to avoid further damage to your car.
