Why is my Vauxhall Zafira Life making a strange noise when I turn the key?

I've had my Vauxhall Zafira Life for a few years now and it's been running great. However, recently when I try to start the car, I hear a strange noise coming from the engine. It almost sounds like a whirring or grinding noise, but it only happens when I turn the key. Is there something wrong with my car? What can I do to fix this issue?

It is possible that there could be an issue with your starter motor. When the starter motor starts to wear out, it can make a whirring noise when you turn the key. This is usually a sign that the motor needs to be replaced.

Another possible cause could be a faulty ignition switch. This is the component that sends a signal to the starter motor to start the engine. If the switch is damaged or worn out, it can cause a strange noise when you turn the key.

In some cases, the noise could be coming from a loose or worn out belt. You can check the belts under the hood to see if they are loose, cracked, or worn out. If this is the case, you will need to have the belts replaced.
