Why is there a knocking sound coming from my Vauxhall Astra engine?

I've noticed a knocking sound coming from my Vauxhall Astra engine recently. It seems to happen when I'm accelerating or going over bumps. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

Hi Samantha, thanks for reaching out. The knocking sound you're hearing could be caused by a few different things. It could be an issue with your engine's spark plugs, a loose heat shield, or even worn engine mounts. It's best to have a professional mechanic take a look to diagnose the exact cause and provide a proper solution.

Hi Samantha, I had a similar issue with my Vauxhall Astra and it turned out to be a problem with the ignition timing. I would suggest taking your car to a mechanic to have it checked as this could lead to further damage if left unaddressed.

Hi Samantha, the knocking sound could also be a sign of low engine oil. I would recommend checking your oil levels and topping up if necessary. If that doesn't solve the issue, it's best to have a mechanic take a look.
