Why is there a knocking sound coming from my Vauxhall Mokka's engine?

I recently purchased a Vauxhall Mokka and noticed a knocking sound coming from the engine. It seems to be happening more frequently when the car is idling. I'm worried that something might be wrong with my car. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It sounds like there may be an issue with your engine's timing. This could be caused by worn out or loose components. I recommend bringing your car to a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection.

Another possible cause of the knocking sound could be low oil pressure. Make sure to regularly check and change your oil to avoid any potential engine issues. It's always better to be proactive when it comes to car maintenance.

In some cases, a dirty air filter can also cause a knocking sound in the engine. Make sure to check and replace your air filter if it's dirty or clogged. This can improve engine performance and reduce noise.

I would also recommend checking the condition and tension of your car's belts. If they are worn out or too loose, they can cause knocking sounds. Have them replaced if necessary.
