What does the adaptive cruise control feature do?

I've noticed an adaptive cruise control button on my Vauxhall Astra, but I'm not sure how to use it. Can you please explain its functionality?

Adaptive cruise control is a feature that automatically adjusts your car's speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. It functions just like regular cruise control, but also utilizes sensors to maintain a safe following distance at all times. To use it, simply press the adaptive cruise control button and set your desired speed.

This feature is especially useful on highways and long road trips. It allows you to relax and let the car do the work, while still maintaining a safe driving distance. Just remember to keep your hands on the wheel in case of any sudden changes in traffic.

One important thing to note is that adaptive cruise control is not a substitute for attentive driving. Always remain aware of your surroundings and be prepared to manually brake or accelerate if needed.
