Why does my Vauxhall Astra make a strange noise when I turn the steering wheel?

I have noticed that when I turn the steering wheel in my Vauxhall Astra, I hear a strange noise coming from the front of the car. It almost sounds like a grinding noise. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It sounds like your power steering pump may be failing. You should have it checked by a mechanic as soon as possible before it completely fails and causes damage to your steering system.

It could also be an issue with your CV joints. If they are worn or damaged, they can make strange noises when turning. Have a mechanic inspect them and replace them if necessary.

Make sure to check your power steering fluid level as well. If it is low, it can cause the pump to make noises. Simply top it off if needed.
