Why is my Vauxhall Corsa making a grinding sound when I brake?

I recently noticed that my Vauxhall Corsa is making a grinding sound whenever I brake. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's becoming more frequent. What could be causing this and what should I do?

Hi Katie, it sounds like your brake pads may be worn out. This can cause the grinding noise when you brake. It's important to get them replaced as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your brakes.

Katie, it's possible that there could be debris or dirt stuck in your brake calipers. This can also cause a grinding sound when braking. I recommend taking your car to a mechanic to get it checked out.

Hi Katie, occasionally the grinding sound could be caused by rust on your brake rotors. This can happen if your car has been parked for an extended period of time and the rotors were exposed to moisture. If this is the case, it's usually not a cause for concern and the noise should go away after a few times of braking.
