What does the 'ECO' button in my Vauxhall Insignia do?

I've noticed an 'ECO' button on my Vauxhall Insignia dashboard and I'm not sure what it does. Can someone explain its purpose and if I should be using it regularly?

A

The ECO button actually stands for 'Economy' and when pressed, it optimizes the vehicle's settings to improve fuel efficiency. It can also help reduce emissions. So if you're concerned about your carbon footprint or want to save some money on gas, I would recommend using it.

The ECO button primarily adjusts the car's throttle and transmission timing to promote more efficient driving. It may also turn off air conditioning and adjust other settings. It's generally recommended to use it in heavy traffic or when cruising at a steady speed on the highway.

Using the ECO mode may reduce power and responsiveness slightly for a more relaxed driving experience. If you prefer a sportier feel, you may want to turn it off. Ultimately, it's up to personal preference and driving style.
